More than the Beatles

This city is one that Elaine and Helen did not know enough of. What a great stop on this long and interesting journey this was!

Coming here, after an emotion-filled stop in Failsworth and some time at Jackie's home, was quite the transition for Elaine and Helen. Thursday night, their heavy hearts were made lighter by the sun over the docks and a smiling welcome from Elaine's cousin Fiona.

A waterside walk on Thursday evening revealed much of Liverpool's promise. It is a city of positive vibes.

This city revealed its true colors on Thursday as Elaine and Helen explored in the rain (of course) on their own. Liverpool's true character was shown by Fiona and Ian on Friday night in the Cavern Club, the Philharmonic Pub, and at the Big Bowl Chinese restaurant (among other things). Fiona and Ian's love of their city is apparent and captivating.

The sun came out in the evening on Friday and shone down on the city streets. The streets were the stars of a show. The sun was spotlighting the avenues, places where so much musical talent dreamed, longing for such focus. These streets are also where celebrities, in their own light, surely must have paused to soak in the energy of this place.

Liverpool is special. It is warm, open, diverse, and accepting. Elaine and Helen like it here. They thank Ian and Fiona for being such amazing advocates and guides. This is a great place to return to.

Oh, Elaine says, "Don't forget to mention Liverpool's dining!" It's really good!

Liverpool is more than just the place where the Beatles got their start.
